AnyDesk Tutorial: How to Use AnyDesk for Remote Desktop Control

AnyDesk is a remote desktop software that allows users to connect to a computer from anywhere in the world, making it possible to access, control, and collaborate on files and programs. It’s widely used for remote support, remote work, or accessing personal systems on the go. This tutorial will guide you through the basics of using AnyDesk.

Step 1: Download and Install AnyDesk

1. Download AnyDesk:

  • Go to the official AnyDesk website.
  • Choose the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS).
  • Download and run the installation file.

2. Install AnyDesk:

  • After downloading the setup file, open it and follow the on-screen instructions to install AnyDesk on your computer.
  • You can run AnyDesk as a portable application without installation if needed.

Step 2: Understanding the AnyDesk Interface

1. AnyDesk Address:

  • When you open AnyDesk, you will see a unique AnyDesk address on your screen. This is a 9-digit number used to identify your device. You can share this with others to allow them to connect to your computer.

2. Remote Address Field:

  • This is where you enter the AnyDesk address of another computer to connect to it.

3. Settings and Tools:

  • The toolbar at the top provides access to settings like Session Recording, File Transfer, and more.

Step 3: Connecting to a Remote Computer

1. Connecting to a Remote Computer:

  • To control a remote computer, enter the AnyDesk address of the remote device into the Remote Address field and press Enter.
  • The remote user will see a connection request and will need to accept it for the session to begin.

2. Accepting a Connection Request:

  • If someone is trying to access your device, a notification will pop up on your screen. You will have to click Accept to allow the connection.
  • You can also customize permissions (control, view-only mode, file transfer) before accepting the connection.

Step 4: Remote Control and File Sharing

1. Remote Desktop Control:

  • Once connected, you can control the remote computer as if you were sitting in front of it.
  • You can open files, run applications, and perform tasks on the remote machine.

2. File Transfer:

  • To transfer files between your computer and the remote device, use the File Transfer option in the top toolbar.
  • You can either drag and drop files from your local system to the remote system or use the dedicated file transfer tool.

Step 5: Setting Up Unattended Access

If you want to access a computer remotely without someone physically accepting the request, you can enable Unattended Access.

1. Enable Unattended Access:

  • On the remote device, open AnyDesk and go to Settings > Security.
  • Check the box next to Enable unattended access.
  • Set a strong password for unattended access.

2. Connect via Unattended Access:

  • After setting it up, you can connect to this computer by entering its AnyDesk address and password, even if no one is present on the remote side.

Step 6: Customizing Permissions

AnyDesk allows you to customize the level of control you grant to the remote user.

1. Permission Settings:

  • When accepting a session, you can choose to enable or disable certain permissions such as:
    • Remote Control (grants full control over the mouse and keyboard).
    • File Transfer (allows sending or receiving files).
    • Clipboard Access (lets users copy/paste content between devices).

2. Change Permissions During a Session:

  • You can adjust permissions while in an active session by using the Permissions toolbar at the top.

Step 7: Using AnyDesk on Mobile

AnyDesk also offers mobile apps for Android and iOS, allowing you to control computers from your smartphone or tablet.

1. Download AnyDesk Mobile:

  • Go to the App Store or Google Play Store and search for AnyDesk.
  • Install the app on your device.

2. Connect from Mobile:

  • Open the AnyDesk app and enter the AnyDesk address of the remote computer.
  • Follow the same steps to connect as you would from a desktop, and control the computer using touch gestures.

Step 8: Session Recording

AnyDesk allows you to record remote sessions for review or troubleshooting purposes.

1. Enable Session Recording:

  • Before starting a session, go to Settings > Recording.
  • Check the box next to Automatically record incoming sessions if you want every session recorded, or click the Record Session button manually during a session.

2. Access Recorded Sessions:

  • After the session ends, the recording will be saved as a video file on your computer, which you can view or share later.

Step 9: Security Features

1. Set Strong Passwords for Unattended Access:

  • Make sure to set a strong password if you enable unattended access to prevent unauthorized access.

2. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

  • For added security, enable Two-Factor Authentication in the security settings. This will require you to enter a code from an authenticator app when connecting.

3. Whitelist Devices:

  • To limit who can connect to your computer, you can set up a Whitelist under Security settings, allowing only specific devices to connect.

Step 10: Ending the Session

1. Close the Remote Session:

  • When you’re done with the remote session, simply close the AnyDesk window or click the Disconnect button at the top of the screen.
  • The connection will be terminated, and no further access will be allowed unless you reconnect.

AnyDesk provides an easy-to-use and secure platform for remote desktop connections. Whether you need to provide remote support or access your files on the go, this tutorial covers the essential steps to get started.
